VSD and Pregnancy

I am a 28 year old female, and my husband and I are trying to conceive.  I am wondering if it is necessary to take special precautions, or be followed by my cardiologist if I should happen to become pregnant?  My VSD is a small VSD, and besides some palpitations associated with it, it basically hasn't caused me any issues in life.

Any advice would be appreciated.  I know how pregnancy makes the heart work a lot harder.

Small VSD's do not cause major problems with pregnancy.  However, you should most certaily be followed by a cardiologist throughout your pregnancy and thereafter.
