Vagal effect

Vagal effect

I have posted several messages in the past relating to my wierd correlation of swallowing and my heart rhythm.  I have been told it is probably vagal in origin.  If this is so are there meds or procedures that can solve this problem?  I did have a positive finding on a barium swallow which indicated reflux. Cisapride has helped but not entirely.  Another doctor suggested anticholinergic meds.  Any thoughts?

While this is a commonly used explanation, its scientific footing is weak. Anticholinergic medications may be useful for your reflux, but I would not recommend them as treatment for a heart rate disturbance. Antacids may also help the reflux.
