Valve regurgitation

by tobang, Oct 05, 2005 12:00AM
I was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis in 1999.  At the time of diagnosis an echo showed no abnormalities.  I have since been "deironed" and my ferritin has remained below 30, but I still have some palpatations, fatigue and dizziness. In 2004 an echo showed mild tricuspid regurgitation.  A stress echo last month showed mild tricuspid regurgitation, mild mitral regurgitation and trace aortic regurgitation.  Everything else was normal.  Should I be concerned about a progessive process taking place and is there any information linking Hemochromatosis to valve problems?

Thank you in advance for your input.

thanks for the post.

These findings are NORMAL and often seen in many individuals undergoing echocardiography.  Hemochromatosis can have cardiac manifestations, mainly cardiomyopathy and not isolated valvular disease. In the absence of developing symptoms I would continue routine followup with your physicians.

good luck
