Varying Left Arm/Right Arm Blood Pressure

Varying Left Arm/Right Arm Blood Pressure

I've posted to a different part of this forum due to other vascular-related issues. Essentially, I became sick in November of 2008 and since then, I've had persistent high blood pressure (didn't have high blood pressure before), a strong feeling of my pulse, fatigue, and a few other symptoms. I feel sort of stupid because I recently discovered something: at home, when taking my blood pressure, I use the cuff on my left arm because I am right-handed. The numbers are always high (between 140/80 to 160/100, depending), but when I get my blood pressure taken at the doctor's office, they use my right arm. Now at home, when I take my blood pressure, I'm calm and not anxious at all. When I go to the doctor's office, I'm nervous as hell because hospitals and doctors offices just creep me out in general. When they take my blood pressure on my right arm though, I know my pulse is elevated and my heart is beating hard, but my blood pressure is within range--around 135/75 usually.

My question is, why would my left arm show high blood pressure while the right arm does not? I know varying blood pressure measurements between either arm is normal within 10mmg, but if my left is saying 160/100 and my right is saying 135/75, is that normal? My right arm is my dominant arm so I know that arm should be the one showing a slight highness. I also know that the left side of my neck gives a harder pulse than the right side of my neck for some reason.

i would go see a cardio dr he can answer all of that and run test see why its high. i just went throught that myself and i wore a 24 hour bp monitor, because anytime i go near a dr office mine shoots up so the monitor showed my cardio dr that its normal at home. unless under stress.
