Vascular Calcifications On Abdomen CT Scan

by frangi56, Jul 23, 2009 03:18PM
Hi! I am a 52 year old male, normal weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and lipid profile.  I don't smoke and do exercise.  The only medication I take is a low dose aspirin each day.  My family history is negative for heart disease.  During a CT scan for kidney stones, they found "vascular calcifications."  Are they normal for someone my age?  Should I have more testing?  Thank  you!

This can be caused by kidney problems, did they find any stones?  Since this leads to stiffening of the arteries, I would definitely look further.  It can also be a pre-cursor to atherosclerosis, which usaully begins around 50.
