Ventricular Bigeminy post heart attack

Ventricular Bigeminy post heart attack

I am a 42-year-old Caucasian male, 6'6", 420 lbs, who had a heart attack June 27. During cardiac rehab yesterday, my heart started something they called "ventricular bigeminy."

My heart always gets funky on the treadmill, due in part, I believe to the back pain I experience. The bicycle and other activities do not result in irregular heart beats. I'm planning on the gastroplasty "Rouen Y" surgery to reduce weight and aleviate the back pain.

My question is how serious is ventricular bigeminy, will it keep me from getting the gastric bypass, and is it necessarily a result of my heart attack, or have I always had it?

Thanks.

In most young people, ventricular bigeminy is not a big deal. In someone who has had a heart attack and had this arrhythmia with exercise, it is more concerning. I doubt any surgeon would operate on you until you have been evaluated for surgery by a cardiologist. If you have not had a stress test or cardiac catheterization, one will most likely be necessary before allowing the surgery.
