Very Odd chest pains please help!!!

Hello all, I am a very healthy 22yr old male student dealing with very odd chest pains. The pains feel like little fires under my left pec and around my sternum. I had a stress test done and it came back better than normal. My pains started in october caused either from a panic attack or pulled muscle. I was in my friends basement playing cards and some of them were smoking pot and about 20 min after they were finished I had some really stong pains in my back, my left arm and my chest. It felt like someone had drilled something in my back and was pulling my chest back out through my back. I went to the ER and they gave me x rays and some pain killers and sent me home. And (I have smoked pot before with no problems whatsoever.) Ever since that day I have had chest pains that are beyond annoying. Even when I drink something cold I can feel it go down toward the left side of my chest instead of down the middle. I am to the point where I just want to figure this out. I have had ADD/ADHD since gradeschool but never really had anxiety. I know that when I think about the pains it seems to get worse but sometimes they intensify when I am totally thinking about something else. I have also noticed that my chest bones make cracking sounds when I stretch or role my shoulders back. I feel that my sternum area is really caved in far compared to a normal chest. My friend had to have his broke and reset because of how far it went in. I guess I am looking at any variable in relation to my chest pains. The pains are only near my sternum towards my left pec and deep in the side of my arm pit. I was also told that maybe it could be nerve damage? I am just wondering what tests I can have done to better help me figure this out. . If any one can help me in anyway or give me advice about tests that I can have done I would really appreciate it. thanks so much for your time.

I'm not a doctor, but this sounds musculoskeletal.  I don't think it has anything to do with pot or lack thereof, but the amount of tar in it is really a major CVD risk.  I would see about finding a doctor who can help you with your back, perhaps an osteopath or a chiropractor, in light of your normal cardiac evaulation.

Thanks for your help.  Today wasnt a very good day for me, Ive been getting horrible pains still for the past couple months and it has really been getting worse.  I havnt smoked since almost a year ago and when I did it was every once in a while.  I wasnt ever a steady smoker like my friends.  I guess I am tired of these Dr's telling me Im too young to have anything wrong with me and then it seems like they try to ask me new ?s to change the subject.  Today I was watching the golf tourney on tv and not thinking about my chest at all and it was bothering me the whole time and got so bad that I thought I was going to need to go to the ER.  I have read about people and anxiety but they all seem to share one thing in common with me, they seem to of had the pain first, then they get the anxiety from thinking about what it could be or if it is heart related.  I am just wondering what kind of tests I could have done to see what the hell is wrong with me.  Thanks again for your help.

Perhaps it is time you see someone for anxiety sounds like you may have a combination of symptoms. Anxiety over what may be muscle problems causing you pain but is now cuasing panic attacks and anxiety. I would also not rule out getting an echocardiograhm done.

I hade chest pains at the end of March, for two days in a row. They lasted for about four hours each day. The second day I went to the ER. They said I pulled a muscle sent me home. However I wouldn't go until they did a blood test to check for elevate enzymes (to see if I had a heart attack). Then I went to a Cariologist. He wanted to do a stress test, my insurance said I was to young, so thank God he did an echo. I had a 1/2 in. by 1.1 in. Myxoma tumor. He did the echo on April 3rd, I had emergency surgery on April 4th.

When they told me they had to do surgery I said well lets set it up but I have to get to work, they said you can't be doing anything this thing could break off and kill you. Wow!!!   I run a bulldozer for a living, can you imagine, the ER doc said I pulled a muscle, go on ahead go to work.

My point to you is be persistant until you get a proper answer you gan "LIVE" with.
