Ed is correct, Tri's can be reduced with Omega 3's and by cutting out the empty carbs such as breads, sugars and pastas. Also, anything that metabolizes as sugar such as alcohol.

wow you had me thinking there for a while. I looked at your figures and couldn't work out how you was alive with something like 23 hdl lipids to every ldl :)
I was diagnosed as having familial hypercholesterolemia. Even if I eat just fruit and veg my Liver goes nuts at producing cholesterol lipids. I think I inherited it from my Mother who didn't get heart problems until 80, mine started much earlier. Thank goodness we have statins or my arteries would be solid lumps of plaque by now. I think Triglycerides are made from carbs we eat?
My trigs were measured at over 2100 without the Tricor. Come to find out, my brother's was that high also. As long as we take our statins our cholesterol levels are perfect. I did some research on fimilial hypercholesterolemia. You might want to do the same.
Take care, Ally
Oops, It is my triglycerides not HDL. I will make the correction but the story is still the same. Very very high number 800's to 900's. Thankyou
Unfortunately my HDL numbers are correct (highest 938) and I get my blood drawn every month or two. I did not take concern until I did my own research. Different doctors have just commented on how high it was without telling me answers and I never questioned. With Gemfibrozil it is hovering in the high 200's.
I think your numbers are wrong, I don't think I've every seen an HDL that high. Are you sure it's not your Triglycerides that were that high? Fenofibrates are usually used to control Tri's, not HDL. 40 sounds like your HDL.
Take another look and let us know.
Jon
