Virus in wall of heart with fever

My boyfriend was recently admitted to hospital here in Tobago (in the Caribbean). He was there for 9 days. He presented with severe chest pain and a fever. The pain moved around his chest during the time there and he was put on antibiotics for infection in his lungs. When he was discharged he was told the infection had cleared but he has a virus in the wall of his heart. He has been home for 5 days now and is still complaining of chest pain (not so severe) and every night has a fever and sweats. The doctors here didn't really seem to be able to help him much. Do you have any further advice?
