Vitamin or mineral deficiencies and PAC/PVC

Vitamin or mineral deficiencies and PAC/PVC

What are the common vitamin and mineral deficiencies that influence attacks of PAC and PVC. I have been able to reduce my arrhythmia (diagnosed as PAC) substantially by cutting out coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. I am told by a cardiologist that mine is harmless and quite common in older people. I am a 71 year old male. I want to eliminate these symptoms if possible. My health otherwise is very good. I am fit and slim. I take no medication except off the shelf Saw Palmetto for prostate. After the elimination of coffee, chocolate, and alcohol, I was symptom free for many months. Now they are back and I am hoping for more diet related cures. Any ideas about minerals and vitamins.

I have been having these for about a few years now and have done research. It seems that magnesium can help reduce them for some people. I am not aware of any other specific minerals/vitamins, but certainly making sure that you are getting enough, like in a multivitamin, could not hurt. There are so many triggers and it is difficult to determine what causes them (at least for me), although stress is a cause without question.
Hope that helps and good luck!

Hi there.  I had similar issues to yours and found the same, that cutting out certain things relieved much of my symptoms.  PACs and PVCs seem to have a mind of their own, however, and mine still come in cycles.  For months I'll be without them almost completely, then I'll have several a minute for days.  It has no rhyme or reason and I cannot find a single connection aside from lack of sleep or over-exertion.

Playing with minerals can be dangerous.  The real trigger for these annoying things seems a mystery to us all.  Often it seems the "cures" are worse than the problem itself.  Hope you find relief soon.

Why do you say "playing with minerals can be dangerous". I thought that if your body is getting an excess of minerals they will just be excreted. I don't take any supplements now and I do believe it is better to get all your nutrients from food, but that is sometimes difficult. I try to eat well, lots of fruit and berries, vegetables, little meat, yogurt, mutigrain bread, and nuts. That sort of thing, and get lots of exercise, and try to stay relaxed, Tai Chi and meditation. So I don't know what else to try. I am not worried about my health, it's just that they are very discomforting. Sometimes they are so strong they shake my chest. My cardiologist explained that PACs are a delay in the pulse, and the longer the delay the greater the buildup and the greater the "thump". What he did not seem to want to talk about was how to prevent them from occuring in a natural or herbal way.
