Weaning off Inderal LA

by heartsonfire, Jun 15, 2007 12:00AM
I have a logn story but I will make it short. I moved from LA to Colorado following my daughters and had anxiety for the first time from altitude or something, anyways after all the heart stress and calcium tests and xrays they said my heart and lungs were fine but I was having heart flutters and panic attacks so big mistake they put me on attivan and it made me worse and I had to wean off that over a year on the Ashton Method a detox protocol out of England. Then the doctors put me on atenolol, then toprol and now inderal LA 160mg. Well I decided I don't like it so they wrote scripts for me to step down to 120mg then 60mg where I am at now but it doesn't feel so good i can feel the medication when it's wearing off. Any advice for weaning off inderal? My dad died in the home his first heart attack at 40 and his second fatal one at 60 after 14 years with bypass surgery.

Why do you want to ween off?  Is it not helping or making it worse. Are your symptoms better?

Well I never had any heart problems according to all the tests I took so I figure why should I bother being on inderal?

I'm considering taking it so i dont feel the skips as much.  from what I understand, it doesnt really stop them, it just doesn't allow you to feel them as much.  But I am only prescribed 10mgs.

This is what I found on inderal that scared me because it says that inderal and/or inderal withdrawal can cause people even with no heart problems to have cardiac arrest
http://www.rxcarecanada.com/Inderal-LA.asp?prodid=929

I bought an automatic blood pressure cuff and monitored my heart because it doesn't feel right going from 160 to 120 to 60 mg inderal LA especially in the 21st to 24th hours after taking the medicine

at 7:44pm 126/93/110/no irregularities
at 8:10pm 123/79/85/irregular
took inderal LA 60 at 8:30
at 9:44pm 140/104/103/no irregularities
at 12:11am 164/122/92/no irregularities

I left a message for oak springs family medicine to refer me to a cardiologist in-network with humana healthcare my insurance.

Please tell me those are not BP readings???  If they are you should be on BP medication.  Are those pulse readings?

Just read that link ... I think that is speaking to patients with previous heart attack and then only in a rare few or patients with congestive heart failure.  I think if you're getting worried, definetely call your doc cause worrying will certainly raise your heart rate all by itsellf!

I hope you start feeling better.  Does it help at all to read a book or keep your mind busy in some way?
