Weight loss after CABG surgery

Hi, My Mother has undergone CABG surgery 15 days back (on 24th Oct 08) .She is 50yr old. After the surgery her legs were swollen but from past two days the sweeling is gone. But we are noticing complete weight loss for her. She is a Diabitic patient too from past 10 yrs and Hipertension from last 5 yrs. Could you plz guide if the weight loss is normal in Post Bypass surgery?

Thanks & Regards,
(Daughter)

It sounds that she lost water weight from the diuresis, not from malnutrition or infection. She probably was carrying 15-20 lbs of excess water weight because her heart function was not normal, and now that it has improved to normal she is mobilizing the fluid into  the kidneys better, and so she has lost this excess water weight.
