What complications can arise as my father is diabetic

Hi

My father just had a quadruple bypass done today. I just returned from hospital now. He is still sedated and the nurses were waiting for his body temperature to go up so they could start trying to wake him up. Doctor said operation went ok but obviuosly one is still worried if everything will be ok...
He has been a diabetic for 22yrs and he is 67yrs old. He also suffers from Glaucoma.
My question is will there be any complications as he is diabetic?

Thanks mystera

A person with diabetes, the risks with bypass surgery complications are higher. Although problems don't happen very often, it's more likely for your father to have infections or to take longer to recover.

With a history of diabetes your father probably already knows that an infection at the procedure site can make it difficult to control blood sugar and may require IV antibiotics to treat the infection. Worst case scenario.
