What could be going on here?

I am a 26 yo F that was admitted to the hospital for an infection that I developed after an angiogram and was getting IV antibiotics. While there I developed a very fast heart rate that stayed between 80-110 resting and up to 150 with any kind of activity. The second night there I had horrible tight chest pain that radiated to my neck, shoulder and left arm with sweating and nausea. They did an EKG and cardiac enzymes that all came back normal. They kept me a few days after that and I did not have any more chest pain but my heart rate has been increased with the odd PVC since then and I am extremely tired and short of breath when I do anything and not able to sleep. I have also been getting heart palpations with lightheadnesses. This is fustrating!!! I have a small ASD with a shunt ratio of 1.2:1 I go back to my dr. soon but I am wondering if there are any questions that I should be asking. Could this have been from the ASD or what other reason could there be? I am not under any kind of daily stress but I am under weight at 102lbs... otherwise very healthy and active. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Janet

Dear Janet,
There is a slight increas in atrial fibrillation in individuals with ASD but this would have been detected in the hospital if this is what you were having.  PVCs do not generally cause an elevation in heart rate but may cause some chest discomfort. The best test may be a Holter monitor or event recorder test.
