What helped to reduce or eliminate your lightheadedness?

by Dizzy Gal, Jan 22, 2007 12:00AM
I am a 47 year old white female, 5’2”, 120 lbs., normal lab results, who has been lightheaded for 15 years and have been tested for everything – neuro, inner ear, adrenal insufficiency, Addison’s, and anxiety etc.  When all of these tests came back negative, my doctor put me on Paxil and the lightheadedness subsided significantly.  However, due to side-effects that I had with Paxil, I had to discontinue taking it and the lightheadedness returned.  I do not faint but have lightheadedness constantly – even when sitting.  Currently I am taking Levothroid for Hashimoto’s, Loestrin 1/20 (continuously without a break) and Wellbutrin SR 200 (once a day).

Recently I went to a cardiologist who suggested I do a tilt table test.  I had the tilt table test and it was positive.

The cardiologist called in Florinef Acetate to take one half of a tablet (.01mg) once a day.  I was on Florinef for over a week but since my lightheadedness was worse, the doctor suggested that I discontinue using it and prescribed Midodrine 2.5 mg. twice a day.  I’ve been on this for 2 weeks and it is not helping either and has made my fatigue and lightheadedness worse also.

Before going to the cardiologist, I either took large doses of Sudafed or took a low dose of diet pills (17.5 mg. Phenteramine).  I’m worried that taking diet pills on a long term basis is not safe.  It makes my lightheadedness better but does not completely take it away.

Can you tell me what has helped reduce or eliminate your lightheadedness?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks for your insight.
