Beta blockers can absolutely cause you to feel exhausted....When I started on BB's many years ago, I felt I though someone had pulled the plug on my energy. So sluggish, sleepy, lethargic....UGH!! It tends to work itself out after awhile.
As for losing weight without trying, have you had your thyroid levels checked? Thyroid levels that are off can cause palpitations and weight changes.
Sorry about the caffeine, especially since you are feeling tired : (
I also think an MI would have shown up somewhere along the line. Please stick around and let us know how you're doing.

Thanks for the kind words.
I am on metoprolol. I had an echo done 6 days ago of which I am waiting for results. I also had a holter monitor for 24 hours no results there either yet.
I have stopped all caffeine :( all alcohol.
Could the metoprolol be causing exhaustion?
Thanks
I'm pretty sure a previous heart attack would have shown up plus you have your age and sex going for you on that one.
Are you under continuing care for this problem?
Are you eating normally or is the anxiety affecting your apetite? Anxiety can cause your heart-rate to go up and to cause palpitations, it can also make some rhythm problems way worse.
I had a similar experience to you although my heart rate went down slowly on its own (was at 130-165 for hours then down into the 90s). My doctor was very reassuring and with eliminating triggers (coffee and more than 2 glasses of alcohol) the problem is much reduced. It did kick me into exercising and reducing stress (it happened while travelling for work which I always find stressful). Spicy food also seems to cause me a problem, sometimes.
Get everything checked out and if they give you a clear bill of health, you must believe it. Even when the thumps and racing heart come on.
It must be our age. The hormones are spluttering and causing problems. Remember life begins at 40. Be kind to yourself.
