What kind of tachycardia am I having?

What kind of tachycardia am I having?

I am a 35-year old female who has experienced 'skipped-like' or extra hard heart beats for many years, on occasion. I have never been too concerned, seems like they increase with caffeine intake. They also increased during 2 different preganancies. Oddly at night they seemed to increase but only when laying on one side. Nearly 3 years ago one of those beats led into about 5 minutes of tachycardia. I felt my pulse and felt that my heart rate was very fast. Since this time I have had 5 episodes, each preceeded by one of those extra heard or skipped beats. They have lasted about 20 minutes. Of course my anxiety increases during these episodes so I may be prolonging it...I do feel out of sort during these episodes but attribute to my anxiety- no major symptoms like fainting. I'v had a normal EKG and echo. I had thyroid tests and discovered nodules, but apparently the physician does not feel this is related to the tachycardia (even though this is the reason for having the test in first place).

I fear that these episodes may increase- just the randomness of it scares me, especially when I am along with my 2 young children. Could it be related to not drinking enough water and too much caffeine? To me it seems doubtful. I want answers but fear that won't be able to get the tachycardia documented as it needs to be...I would like to get pregnant again but am certainly concerned.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated...I always thought of myself as a healthy person but have really been questioning it now...

Sorry to hear about those pesky could be PVC's or PAC's. Have you had a 24 hour holter monitor or an event monitor done? I would suggest that you first try to figure out what they are and then work on see if you can find what triggers them. I have found out what mine are, they are PVC's and I have not yet found a trigger, they just happen. But I will tell you that stress and anxiety about them will make them worst, the hardest part for me is that when they start I have to try and relax and not get anxious. Interesting enough mine happen all the same ways as yours, at night, on my left side but mine last anywhere from 20 min to a couple of hours. You might want to see an Electrophysiologist, a cardiologist that specialize in rhythm problems. Hope this helps :)
