What tests should I be sure the dr. does?

Dear Dr.,

First of all, thank you so much for supplying so much useful info on this site. It has been of much comfort to me and others and is all free...thank you for such a refreshing idea!
Anyway, here is a quick backround. At 5 months pregnant had a few strong PVC's that mad me nervous. Went to a cardiologist and had echo of the heart done and 24 hr. holtor(no PVC's while wearing it)and everything looked fine. Now, 2 months after the baby is born, I am having 10-15 strong PVC's a day, mostly in the afternoon. I have an appt. with the cardiologist again in 4 weeks (can I wait that long?). My question is what tests should I be sure are done to rule out anything serious?? I am scared to death I will drop dead at any moment and especially now that I have 2 kids I am even more paranoid about it. If the echo of my heart was ok 7 months ago, do I need another, or can I put my mind at ease knowing that was ok then?  Again, thank you for your help.  Mary

Dear Mary,

You may draw comfort from the fact that many other people have the same concerns as you.  Let me reassure you that PVCs are completely benign and harmless.  There is no increased risk of dying with PVCs and really no need to do anything about them.  Your doctor may want to order a Holter test to reassure you that there is nothing else going on.  Best wishes and enjoy your children- they grow up so fast.
