Wolffe Parkinson White Syndrome

Posted by Jordan on July 23, 1999 at 10:55:32
I was diagnosed with Wolffe Parkinson White Syndrome when I was 8 years old. Although I had radiofrequency cathader ablation at 13, at 21 I still live in fear the disease will return. My surgery was a complete success and no extra pathways were found in my 2-month follow-up. Am I living in fear for no reason or can the disease return?

Dear Jordan,
Ablations for WPW are virtually 100% complete and long-lasting if there is no further evidence of an accessory pathway.  You should consider yourself a normal 21 year old and do your best to have a normal active lifestyle without the fear of a recurrence!
I wish you the continued best of health.
I hope this has been useful.  Feel free to write back.
