abdominal aortic aneurysm question

by moriarty, Sep 05, 2007 10:20AM
to anyone who's had this, or know anything about it, i was wondering what the 'pulsations' in the stomach are supposed to manifest as. i've noticed i can kind of see my heart beat in my stomach when i'm lying down, but i can't feel it or anything. also i have some pretty terrible pain in my lower left abdominal area but it gets better if i stretch out against it so i figure it's probably a muscle cramp (although i got it when i was just sitting around).

should there be like a bulge or something that's pulsing, or hsould i be able to just feel my pulse in my stomach at all times? it's kind of concerning but i don't know if i am just being a hypochondriac or not

There have beeen others with the same concern. I suppose the only way to know for sure is to have an echo done. My tummy pulses too and my doc was worried because she thought my pulse was too loud in my abdomen. I knew it's always been like this but she wanted an echo done. Of course everything is normal but at least she felt better. The odds are in your favor that it's OK but it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor, see if s/he is concerned.

As for pain in the lower left - could be anything. That's the descending colon and maybe you just haven't been "going" as well as usual. If I'm a bit backed up or sluggish in the bathroom dept. I feel an ache or heaviness. Once I go, I feel great. But that's me.
