An angioplasty will not prevent hypertension, and hypertension can be an underlying cause for vessel occlusion and hardening of the arteries requiring angioplasty. High blood pressure requires treatment and needs to be controlled.  Sometimes medication can be stopped as some high blood pressure is the result of the individual's lifestyle, diet, lack of appropriate exercise,  smoking, alcohol, etc.
