alternative methods of viewing heart and arteries other than using the dye for a person that has FSGS .

by FROSTY835, Jul 26, 2008 10:39AM
I WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING FSGS IN 2000 BY A BIOPSY. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN CONTROLLED BY MEDICINES AND MY KIDNEY FUNCTION IS RELATIVELY NORMAL.  RECENTLY THROUGH A ECHOCARDIGRAM AND STRESS TEST IT WAS FOUND THAT THE LOWER CHAMBER OF MY HEART IS STARVING FOR BLOOD AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT FOR SURE WHERE THE PROBLEM IS TO DO AN ANGIOGRAM USING THE DYE FOR CONTRAST. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS A VERY STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT THE DYE COULD SHUT DOWN THE KIDNEYS. IS THERE ANOTHER WAY OR AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF DOING THIS WITHOUT USING THE DYE ?
