angioplasty risks: loosing stent in procedure

  What are the risks of "loosing" a stent in a heart artery?  Is there a procedure for removing
  a stent that slips off before being "deployed."

Dear Bill,
The risks of losing a stent during the procedure are fairly low and certainly vary
among interventionists (cardiologists that do such procedures) minimally, but maximally by
the type of stent used.  As well, the type of stent lost will determine the likelihood of
recovery.  It would be best for you to discuss this with the cardiologist who is to do or who did the
procedure. Good Luck.
