ankle fracture

My husband fractured his ankle in January this year. The ankle is slowly healing. OUr Doctor wanted him to use a bone stimulating machine, my husband refused. On our next visit the Doctor agreed he could wait. My husband is a diabetic and he was told by his another doctor that he needed to keep his sugar under 130 for faster healing. Is this a reasonable plan for full recovery? The Orthopedist suggested a bone graft and surgury. However he now says to wait. Thanks, dyj

May I suggest you log onto http://www.mybrokenleg.com/discussion.html
It is a very good forum where any of your questions about broken legs & ankles will be answered by other people who have all had or have broken legs or ankles and who may have/had the same problem.
Cheers

Dear dyj,
We don't currently have an orthopedic forum to address your question.  You may try searching the medical literature for answers to your questions or, as always, the best source of information is the doctor him/herself.
