antibiotics

Dear Dr.,
Last year I was diagnosed with mild MVP (of anterior leaflet, 1st echo said thickening with no evidence of mvp, 2nd said mvp)with mild regurg. and mild tr. My ep told me he didn't feel I needed antibiotic prophylaxis, but that the decision was up to me. Another dr. in his practice said I should use antibiotic prophylaxis and 2 dr.s on this forum said I should. (In reality the dr.s I have seen have decided that I should without asking me.) I got a card from the AHA as recommended by one of the dr.s on this forum, also. On the card it has the recommended antibiotic with the doses (2.0g). I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and the gastro. prescribed 6 x 500mg. (3 g) of amoxicillin. Is that a common dose for this procedure?
Thank you for your help,again.

So, should I question the gastro.? Or just take it, anyway?
