aortic aneurysm

I'm 47 years old. I have lupus anticoagulate. I have a bicuspid aorta valve with a 3.9 aortic aneurysm. I have high blood pressure. I see a heart surgeon in two days. I don't have a clue what he will say. Does anyone have any experience in this sort of thing? bad chest pains I've been in hospital three times in four months. Chest pains continue. I'm on three blood pressure meds,coumindan, norvasc,imdur.and keep nitros in pocket.

In many cases, the condition will cause no problems. However, especially in later life, a bicuspid aortic valve may become calcified, which may lead to varying degrees of severity of aortic stenosis and aortic regurgitation.

You are on the proper medication, but nitro is a fast acting dilator of coronary arteries.  If there is ischemia (lack of blood flow) to the heart,  that will cause angina (chest pain), and that would indicate some vessel blockage  and unrelated to the valve.

In many cases, the condition (BAV) will cause no problems. However, especially in later life, a bicuspid aortic valve may become calcified, which may lead to varying degrees of severity of aortic stenosis and aortic regurgitation, which will manifest as murmurs. If these become severe enough, they may require heart surgery.

Normal aorta size according to my report to be 2.0-3.7 cm and your 3.9 is slightly high but well within the range of marginal error in the estimate and shouldn't be problematic.
