are statins safe to take with tegretol?

dear sir,
i was diagnosed with high cholesterol a couple weeks ago. i am also an epileptic. i take 200 mg. of tegretol xr in the mornings. i also take 30 mg. of prevacid. my dr. prescribed vytorin for me a couple weeks ago. i got extremely sick on it; i felt so tired and exhausted through the day; and like i was going to have seizures all night. i stopped after a week. my dr. has now prescribed zocor. i read on the drug interaction list that it should not be taken with tegretol. i called my dr. and told him this; he said its such a low dose of tegretol and it wouldnt hurt. i am very afraid of taking it!!! i know i could have a heart attack, or stroke; but the thought of going into seizures is scary too. i dont know what to do. could you please help me? im thinking of going to another dr. i have thought about it for a while; now. thank you, kathy
