ascending aorta 3.8cm

ascending aorta 3.8cm

Last year I was diagnosed with an aneurysm of the ascendingn aorta at 4.1 cm. I also have a bicuspid valve along with mysathenia gravis. Long story short. I had open heart surgery to repair the aneurysm and a partial thymectomy. I have a dacron graft and it was measured at 2.6cm post surgery.   6 months after surgery the aorta was measured at 2.8-2.9 in April 2009.

I have been having chest pains and went to ER on 11/20/09 they did a cta scan any my ascendying aorta was measuring 3.8cm.   Is this considered an anuerysm?  I am 5'4" 126 lbs.    So it seems that it has grown 0.9 cm in 7 months. What are the statistics of successful surgery again? they would have to go through my sternum? I'm sort of freaking out. I still have the bicuspid valve which is likely the cause. UGH. i am just worried that this is a fast growing.

any advice. I'm taking koreg. but i have low blood pressure and it sometimes makes me feel really light headed etc.

any advice?

I'm surprised your surgeon didn't fix the bicuspid valve while he was in there.  Like yours, my guess would also be that the bicuspid valve is causing the dilatation.  The rate of enlargement you're talking about is quite fast and the overall size is pretty large on your small frame.  You need to talk to a top-notch surgeon for a consultation.  I would do it soon.
