asd or vsd

IN NOV 2007 I HAD MY 1ST EPISODE OF AFIB, I HAD AN ECHO WHICH I WAS TOLD 1 THE CHAMBERS LOOKED A BIT DISTORED, I WAS THEN SENT FOR AN MRI SCAN WHICH I WAS THE INFORMED THE WHOLE SIDE OF 1 SIDE OF THE HEART WAS DILATED AND I HAD A HEART MURMUR AND A SMALL HOLE WHICH WAS EITHER A VSD OR AN ASD, AND I AM AWAITING A TEE, WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS AN MRI SHOULD HAVE SHOWN WHERE THE HOLE WAS LOCATED..? PLEASE REPLY

I didn't realize  a MRI could show a hole in the heart, it might also be the location of the hole as well of the dialtion of the one sideof your heart is why it was hard to tell. .I know you can tell with a cardiac cath   I do know that the ECHO should have shown the ASD or VSD no matter how small it is,. my 4 year old has a PFO(ASD) and it is the sixe of a pin hole and they can still see it on the echo. now none of his MRIs have shown the holes that he used to have.
they don't sound to concerned if you are just getting these test done now (7 months later)

a small hole is nothing really to be of concerned, unless you are symptomatic about something.
are they going to repeat the echo soon. did they grade your murmur?

SORRY I DID'NT EXPLAIN MYSEL VERY WELL, HAD A FIV IN NOV, HAD ECHO IN FEB, DUE TO LONG WAITING LIST I HAD TO WAIT, ECHO SHOWED BOTTON SIDE OF HEART ENLARGED DOWN, PLUS AT THAT TIME THEY THOUGHT WAS A VSD. HAD TO WAIT AGAIN DUE TO WAITING LIST FOR MRI WHICH SHOWED ATRIUM AND VENTRICLE ENLARGED DOWN 1 SIDE OF HEART, THEN I WAS INFORMED I HAD TO HAVE A TEE TO FIND LOCATION OF THE HOLE WHICH I AM SURE YOU MUST HAVE HEARD OF BECAUSE OF YOUR CHILD'S HOLE.APPARENTLY AS A CHILD IT MAY NOT AFFECT YOU BUT AS I AM GETTING ON IN YEARS IT AS STATRED TO AFFECT ME NOW I GET VERY TIRED AFTER DOING NOT ALOT REALLY, THE HOLE AS I AM SURE YOU MUST BE AWARE CAUSES THE OXYGENATED BLOOD TO MIX WITH THE DEOXYGENATED BLOOD WHICH CAN PLACE ALOT OF PRESSURE ON THE HEART, AS FAR AS THE GRADE OF THE MURMUR DID'NT KNOW IT WAS GRADED WILL HAVE TO ASK  MY CARDIOLOGIST
