atrial septal ASD with aneurysm

My question is; What is the risk of stroke with an ASD and an aneurysm?  I have E-mailed you before with other concerns.  I cannot have a reoperation my doctors tell me so I'm really worried about this condition.  Can the opening be closed under these conditions with a  transcatheter device?   Thankyou, marilyn

Aneurysm of the septal wall?  The risk for stroke with ASD is higher than the general population but is still low  - less than 1% per year.  Most people with ASD take aspirin to reduce this risk.  The option of a transcatheter device would depend on the anatomy of the ASD.
