Aortic valve replacement with/without coronary bypass grafting is a common surgical procedure that is performed at most academic institutions. However, the decision to undertake this surgery depends on a wide variety of factors which can include (but not limited to) surgical risk, patient functional status, medical co-morbidtities, and previous open heart surgeries. If you are not satisfied with the decision by a physician, you should have him/her explain in detail why. If still not satisfied (or unjustified), it is always within your ability to seek a second opinion.
