My 81 year old dad has been diagnosed with bacterial endocarditisEndocarditis Infectious endocarditis Infective endocarditis. He has an existing porcine heart valve. He will soon be sent home from the hospital with long term antibiotic treatment. Surgery (another replacement valve) does not seem to be an option. Can he recover from this and rid the valve of the bacteria? I know that it can break off and cause artery damage if not. Also, he refuses to eat and says that food makes him sick. Is this a commonCommon cold symptom? Can this infection in some way be connected to colon cancer? He has never had a colonoscopy and just lost a sister to colon cancer.
This is very serious. Surgeons will not operate if there is bacteria in the heart. He must be very sick to his stomach. I would try maybe to see if he could eat organic fruit. Fruit is light and is something my mom could still eat when she was so sick from end stage heart failure. Hopefully, the antibiotics will help him. Concentrate now on the antibiotics and food. Take care.
