balloon breaking

How common is it for the balloon to break? If this happens can the Doctor ever go back and try to repair this vessel? This happened on my second angioplasty.

Dear truckdriver,
I would say it is uncommon for a ballon to break during angioplasty but not unheard of. Depending on the situation of how the balloon broke and the anatomy of the vessel the degree of complication may range from only minor to severe.  In general, a balloon breaking should not hinder further angioplasty from being done on the vessel.  A worse case scenerio would be emergency bypass surgery following the breakage.
