beta blocker allergy

my daughter has been dx with cardiomyopathy  the cardiologist has tried her on 2 different beta blockers  she had severe allergic reactions  to both requiring steroids even though it was 1/4 of the recommended dose because of her low bp  the ace inhibitor she is on is not as effective  the cardiologist is trying to find an allergist to do med testing is there a way to test the individual componets of the medication to determine the specific allergen

I can't take beta blockers or channel blockers or digoxin and hypersensitivity to other drugs.  Electrocardiologist says the condition is rare, one in a thousand.  I suspect it may be higher.  The worst side-effect for me was memory loss.  Someone asked my daughter's last name, and I didn't know. I have afib and tachycardia, so I'm scheduled for an ablation..

Hi, beta blockers allergy is rare. It may be difficult to test allergy reactions to beta blockers as they would interfere with effective emergency treatment in case of anaphylaxis, as beta blockers are drugs that are antagonistic towards the effect of the neurotransmitter adrenaline.  If she exhibits allergy to one beta blocker, she is likely to be allergic to the rest of them.  Anyways, an allergist may be able to guide you. Good luck.
