blocked arteries

My mother is 63 and just had an angiogram.  They found a blockage that was to small of an intrance to put in a stent.  They sent her home and said she would have a heart attack and thet would releive the pain she has been in.
Does that sound correct?

Please help.

You must have misunderstood as a heart attack doesn't relieve any pain.  A heart attack damages heart cells often due to lack of blood/oxygen to the area in question, and chest pain (angina) is not necessarily a heart attack, but it often indicates a lack of sufficient blood supply as a result of blocked vessels...a warning of a future heart attack.

A stent is not always necessary to relieve pain from occluded vessels.  Medication (nitrate) can dilate vessels and open a better blood/oxygen flow to heart cells.  Even though the small vessel is totally blocked it could be other open vessels supply blood to the deficit area.

Wow !!  That is SOME advice.  Did that come from a doctor?  I hope you misunderstood what was said.

Having a heart attack will definitely solve a pain problem, but only if it's fatal.

Not really the most desirable way to fix the problem.  IMHO
