blood pressure during exercise

pho
I am wondering what is the maximum normal blood pressure rise during cardiovascular exercise on a stationary bike?   For a 30 year old male in average physical shape?   I think it may be going up too much, but I can't be sure because my store bought BP monitor won't take while I'm exercising.  Would I get an accurate reading if I stopped exercising just long enough to get the reading, or would the BP drop too quickly and throw me off?
I suspect that my BP might be going over 200, i don't know though?
I started wondering about this because my chest feels like it's beating (pounding) too hard when I exercise now, and I have less of a tolerance than I used to (ie-sometimes I get a dizzy spell with my pulse is in the 160's where as I used to could have went all day at 170 without blinking.  I also have had some blood pressure drops immediately after exercise I measured it at 52/40 once
This is all after a 6 month layoff due to a broken ankle...
Should I request a stress test,  or a stress echo?   Any other tests I should have?
Would a stress test better quantify my maximum heart rate zone?
Do I need the stress echo?
I have already had a normal resting echo and chest xray...

Thanks.

It sounds as if you have deconditioned a little and may not be repleting your electrolytes suficiently during the exercise, and that this causes you to have a decease in blood pressure after exercise. Normally, blood pressure should decrease or increase only slightly with exercise. Your pulse may increase very much but the systemic vascular resistance will fall with recruitment of very large muscles such those found in your as legs and back.
You are only 30 and unlikely to have coronary artery disease. A stress test is only indicated if you have symptoms suggestive of ischemia, such as chest pain or pressure.
You maximum heart rate is not usually achieved during a stress test, as we normally stop after 85% MPHR ( which is 220- age= 180 ). To find this out there are several anaerobic means but they all involve maximal exertional efforts for 45 seconds, after proper warmups. The heart rate after 2-3 of these efforts is you maximum predicted heart rate.
