I am 1 year post CABG X3 and 46 years old, good physical shape before and after surgery. It took a solid 6-8 months for my breast bone to heal to where I was confident enough to really pick anything up heavy. It hurt like hell for months at times.

I had cabg surgery x5 March 30. After about two weeks a started having sigificant muscle discomfort and hypersensitive skin on my chest. However this, thank goodness, mostly went away after about 5 weeks. I am know 12 weeks after surgery and I am doing everything plus more than I did before. There is still some slight numbness around my chest muscles but I am 90% plus.

The breast bone itself for me healed fine and I was golfing, kayaking etc at 6 weeks.

Good Luck

Two years?  I was told that just before or after surgery, at the time I was still trying to get over the idea I just had a heart attack, let alone anything else I was told.  So, a time line of tasks able to be performed would be greatly appreciated, Even if it is distorted from other medical problems.

Don't know when Grampao2 had his surgery but I had mine just two months ago.

For me it took almost two years, but remember everyone is different, some may heal slower than others. It may have taken longer for me because I have lupus.
