bypass failure

My mother had double bypass surgery June 2010.  She did great from a cardiac standpoint and was walking at a VERY fast pace around the unit within 2 days of surgery.  That was something she hadn't been able to do in 10 years without chest pain and SOB.  She had a hard recovery emotionally but has overcome that.  Five months after surgery she has expressed to me that she is once again having chest pain just as before her surgery.  She will not tell the cardiologist as he has been very condescending to problems she has expressed to him and has outright told her he didn't believe her.  I told her I will get her in to see a different cardiologist if she will please see someone about the pain.  She states repeatedly that she cannot possibly go throught the surgery again.  Perhaps she may only need stents.  Could her bypass have failed that quickly and could the emotional rollercoaster that she was on have brought this on?  Please help me, I am so scared for my Mama and want to do everything I can to help her.

SJH1972,
Studies have suggested that up to 10% of CABG grafts have some defect seen immediately after surgery. As a result, it is very possible that she has either a blockage in the bypass graft or a blockage in an artery that does not have a bypass to it. I would encourage her to discuss her symptoms with her cardiologist. If she feels uncomfortable with her cardiologist, it may be a good idea to find someone with whom she has a better working relationship.
