bypass questions about my grandpas procedure!

(earlier post from yesterday in case noone saw it on the previous post under a different title)

hi
gramps had surgery today and the dr said it couldnt have gone any better which was great to hear..however its been about 10 hours now since surgery and he is still on the ventilator tube thing...also they had to recently give him 2 things of blood because he has lost some blood...they are hoping it will stop on its own and wont have to go back into surgery??? My questions are- is it normal to be on the ventilator so long and also what about the blood issue?? I feel so helpless!!!!

hi
they removed my grandpas ventilator tube last night during the night and he is doing fine without it! So that was great to hear.  I guess hes still losing some blood thru that one tube but they havnt had to give him anymore blood since last night..??  He was able to sit in a chair and drink some milk today so i think its going ok at this moment....

he is doing good and has even walked around the pod at the hospital...however today the dr said his white blood cell count it up.  I hope that doesnt mean hes getting an infection!!  Does anyone know if a high white cell count is normal??

Dear Grandaughter,
Your grandfather will be fine.  I just had triple bypass surgery about six months ago and I am doing great.  I didn't particularly like the ventilator tube.  It's a bit scarey when you wake up and can't talk.  They took mine out fast so I was lucky.  By the way, I am 68 so I am probably around your grandfather's age. It just takes a while to get back up to speed.  Give him my best when you see him.

Well today they said something about congestive heart failure??  apparently the norm of something is 1-99 and gramps is at 300.  He also has like 14 lbs of fluid retention.  Also now they say his blood pressure is too low and they are giving him more blood!  Does anyone know anything about this!??
ps hes 84
