Cardiomegaly is a medical condition wherein the heart is enlarged. The condition can be due to dilatation of heart chamber(s) secondary to an abnormal workload that stresses the heart i.e. malformed arteries, heart structure, valves,  etc.;  correction that reduces the heart's workload can return the heart to normal dimensions.  Worst case scenarios.

If diagnostic evidence is a chest X-ray or EKG, the condition would not be conclusive and require further testing...the condition may be medically insignificant, artefact, etc.  The appropriate test would be an echocardiogram to confirm and the test would/should provide evidence of the underlying cause.
