chest discomfort

by paytuyo, Jun 26, 2008 10:07AM
I am a 37 y/o male 225lb. I've been experiencing chest discomfort ever since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure,I lost about 20 lbs. cut down on the salts, sugars, alcohol etc.and I don't smoke.I'm taking metropolol 50 mg.,and lisinopril 20m.I've had ekg's,nuke stress tests and upper gi's and everything came back normal.I feel great for days at a time and then I start feeling fatigued and the chest discomfort starts and somtimes last all night to the next day.I've also noticed a headache at the same time and dizziness.I have no insurance and these test are getting expensive,I have an echo gram scheduled for monday, another $1000,if you have any suggestions I would surely love to hear them as soon as posible.Thank you, juan

Could the chest discomfort be a side effect from the medications?  Any chance that anxiety is playing a role.  Could it be muscular?

If your echocardiogram results are normal, you should still talk with the doctor to find out his/her expert opinion and how best for you to proceed.  With a normal echo, it seems that you will have ruled out a great number of serious causes.  While I don't readily jump to anxiety as a cause, it is definitely a possibility (with a normal cardiac and gastro workup).
