chest discomfort

hi
Im 21 years old , male , hispanic and i been having chest problems since i was a child but they were light . on May 2006 i started having severe chest problems one time it lasted more than 8 hours with mild pain and discomfort , i went to the doctor they gave me a prescription of 600 mg IBUPROFEN and helped with the pain but once in a while i get chest pain , but , last week i was shocked beacuse during an 8 minute of non stop mild to severe chest pain i was able for the first time to hear and feel my heart beats with out touching my chest i didnt count my heart beats but for like 15 to 20 seconds it was going so fast i thought it was going to explode or come out of my chest . i coulnd sleep that night. i know thats not normal but its that life threatning?
The EKG and the photographs or ultrasound of my heart did not show anything abnormal , then whats the problem.
