chest pain post bypass surgery

Hello!  I'm very new to this forum so forgive me if I am asking a stupid question.  I'm a 58-year-old male who used to run long-distance races and bike in multi-day events.  I had a heart attack in 1998, followed over the years by three stents, an atherectomy, a cardiac ablation, and 12 other catheterizations.  I had a five-way bypass surgery in January of this year - relatively uneventful.  Unfortunately, I've developed anginal-like symptoms again just recently.  My doc. wants to do a stress echo, which sounds reasonable.  But, I'm really interested in knowing whether anyone has had prior experiences with recurrent angina that appeared a few months after a bypass procedure.  Thanks for your help.

Tom

56 year old male had stent fitted 3 years ago, followed by double bypass 18 months ago like you  I was getting chest pains angina was back had stress test 8 weeks ago. The results showed restricted blood flow to different areas to the heart, had angiogram two weeks ago this showed my bypass had failed also the stent area was blocked plus two veins to the back of the heart.on friday 29th may i had a stent fitted in place of the failed one  also balloon inflated to open up the two veins to the rear of the heart as the doctor said putting stents in those would not work so all together about 50% of problems sorted as for bypass can't do anything for me unless I have 2nd bypass doctor said symptoms should be eased for a couple more years then will review it again in mean time will see him every 3 months to check pain is not getting worse 36 hours since stent was fitted ok up to now hope you get sorted

Not to alarm you, but there are times when the bypasses do not heal in and simply dissolve.  The symptoms are shortness of breath when climbing a small slope, chest pain or heaviness.  You need to have the stress test done with the echocardiogram afterwards to make sure everything turned out okay from the surgery.  Hopefully, it did and this is just angina.
