I have been having chest pains that wake me up from a dead sleep, they are on the left side right hehind my boob, (that is the only way of explaing the exact position is) and it is like a gripping, stabbing, crushing pain and can last 5 mins or more, only on a couple of occasions it has travelled down my left arm, but i have used the pain spray the doctors gave me, and i am on Ramipril to help the flow of blood, my doctor arranged for me to have an ecg which was normal so then i had to have a CAT scan, no results back yet. My mother suffers from Angina and my father had a heart attack but is not longer with us. please can any1 help me in giving me an idea as to what sort of pain i am suffering please, it frightening

Hi Wendy,
My suggestion to you is to seek medical attention.. Do not wait! I had the same symptoms for a week and ignored them. Well, I took pain medications that would put me to sleep but once those medications wore off, I was also awaken with chest pains. To make a long story short it is better to be safe than sorry. When I finally got up the nerve to go to the ER, I learned that I had had a massive heart attack. Not trying to scare you or anything but you really need to go get that checked out.
