chest pain

My husband had 6 bypass surgery on 7-9-08 and then 3 stems on 9-6-08, after one week started to have chest pain.
I don't think the doctor has explain this to us,it is scary for him and me having so many chest pain but also having shortest of breath.Is this a something that he could died from, or will he always have chest pains--He is a diabetic
Please help us to understand this
