child's chest fluttering

child's chest fluttering

Hi I was wondering if it is normal to actually see a kid's chest as the heart beats.  My son's does this quite a bit.  I am not real concerned just wondering if this is normal.

Dear Melissa, thank you for your question.  Most likely, this is normal and relates to the fact that children's chest walls are relatively thin so normal cardiac pulsations are magnified through the thin chest wall.  However, if you are concerned about this, then you should take your son to see his pediatrician.
I hope you find this information useful.  Information provided in the heart forum is for general purposes only.  Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies. Please feel free to write back with additional questions.  Good luck!
