concentric left ventricular hypertrophy

I was just diagnosed with concentric  left ventricular hypertrophy. My Brother,Mother,sister and mother have all died from this congenital defect. Is there anything a cardiologist can do for me?

Yes, there is. If you have this strong of a family history with that number of deaths, you should certainly have an electrical study (EP Study) of the heart done. There are several drugs that they use in the treatment of this form of heart disease. Contact the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Assoc. on line, you can get a lot of good information from them. As you are probably well aware of, there is no cure for this disease, however, you may be a candidate for transplant. I would consider seeking out a doctor at a major medical center such as a University. The HCM Assoc, gives a list of some of the top centers here in the US.

I also have concentric LV  Hypertrophy,  I take a high dose of flecainide and metropolol to keep ventricular rythms at bay.  I was implanted with an ICD in 1991 because of high risk of  sudden cardiac death.

I second that you talk to the HCMA the best place for information about HCM.
