concerned friend

i have a friend who says he was born with a heart deterioration and he says its not heredity? he has two children 2 sons. Could they be at risk for the heart defect?

For lack of specifics, I can generalize your question and state if the defect is a congenital condition and structual the anomoly can be hereditary. If the condition is due to muscle damage from a virus, etc, there may not be any association.

If the condition is a genetic, the children would be at risk (I believe the probability would be 50%).
