cough

by machovera, Apr 14, 2008 09:01AM
I'm 64 y/o male that had bypass surgery double 8 days ago. My question is once in a while a get continuous cough that practically leaves me breathless, is not productive because my lungs are clear to auscultation and x-rays.  It does  not happen every day, it scares must of my family members and of course me. I have not had my first routine visit with my surgeon or cardiologist to ask about this matter. Could you give me a hint as to what's happening.

Hello and welcome!

You've come to a great place to learn more about your condition and to talk with others who have been where you are now.  In regards to the dry cough, you may want to give your doctor's office a call.  Some of the heart medications can cause a dry cough and maybe that's what's going on.  It's always good to check it out, especially since the coulgh leaves you breathless.  Hope your recovery is going well.
