coumadin levels

is a protine level of 5.0 too high? and if so does coumadin dosage need to be lowered?

An INR of 5.0 is too high.  Generally speaking, they want you between 2.0 and 3.0.  The dosage may need to be lowered but only the physician familiar with your case and usual dosages can do that.
